
Welfare Association for Youth (WAY), and The Jerusalem Forum organized a Cycling for Palestine – Give to Gaza event on Friday December 14th 2012. This event brought together 200 cyclists from all over Jordan to put on their cycling gear and bike 15 kilometers in the Dead Sea while raising money for 3 selected WA projects in Gaza. The project supported this year is called the Mustaqbali Program, which aims at meeting the needs of 1804 Palestinian children who were orphaned or lost their primary income-earning parent during the Israeli war on Gaza between December 2008 and January 2009. The program’s 3 supported projects are: Empowering widowed mothers in Gaza, supporting the right to safe education and psycho-social support to the children of Gaza and non-curriculum activities and promotion of orphaned children special talents and skills. Following the event, cyclists and other visitors had a lunch where they were engaged through a presentation about the work of WAY and the WA, with a raffle draw for various prizes. The Group also provided vouchers from Bistro One and Trattoria restaurants.
